We often hear preachers and pastors preach with fierce conviction on the subject of the lust of the flesh and many of us as believers and those whom have not received salvation have been victim to its chains that get longer and heavier to bare as we gain comfort from the thing meant to destroy us becomes our secret lover .

How do we get free from this secret lover comforting our delusions and hidden self destruction that often can only be seen by ourselves and the Lord who faithfully presses in toward us with love and hands of freedom.

What is the lust of the Flesh?

1 John 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

This passage gives us a clear and evident description of what these things look like to the believer; How do we decide we aren't going to be led by our desire to self destruct?

What are some examples of the lust of the flesh?

  • Sexual immorality: Acts of the body that are against God's will, such as adultery, fornication, and impurity
  • Idolatry: Honoring a creature or thing as if it were God
  • Covetousness: A desire for things that belong to others, such as money or power
  • Greed: An intense desire for money
  • Gluttony: An intense desire for food
  • Drugs and alcohol: Using substances that are harmful to the body
  • Taking eyes off Jesus: Turning away from God and focusing on worldly pleasures
Often we cannot identify these chains in our lives because we have forged each link daily to become longer and heavier every single time we worship this god of lust to whom as no other mission but to keep you and I away from our crowns as heirs.

How do we identify the lust of the flesh working intrusively in our lives?

Romans 8:5,6 “Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.”

Understanding your thought process : This is a very good place to start . We cannot repent in our hearts or our minds if we do not take intentional time to evaluate our thinking.

How do we shake off these chains?

Change what you believe about yourself. Easier said then done . Negative self talk will keep you and I in a cycle of misery as long as we let it . We have to take a stand and choose to be free from the prison's we create for ourselves. Either from some form of trauma or wrong choice that had a lasting affect on our lives we was not capable of seeing or understanding at the time of the decision. Whatever the case may be, from this point forward lets choose together to be who Jesus says we are and not defined by the chains and deceptions of the enemy.

Be who Jesus says you are !

1 Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

Proverbs 23:7 For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. “Eat and drink!” he says to you,
But his heart is not with you.

TRANSPARENCY IN THE LIFE OF JESUS

Transparency in the Life of Christ

The life of Jesus Christ, as depicted in the Gospels, stands as a powerful testament to the transformative power of transparency. He wasn't simply a teacher dispensing wisdom from a distance; he engaged fully with the world around him, revealing his identity, his mission, and even his humanity as God with profound honesty. This radical transparency wasn't a calculated strategy but rather an outflow of his divine nature, a manifestation of his love for humanity. Understanding Jesus' transparency is crucial for grasping the biblical foundation of this essential Christian virtue.

THE WOUNDED MAN

So many times we as men the leaders, the protectors of our families, the providers, the person of strength or the person our wives and children look to for direction and safety are carrying hidden wounds the eyes that the natural man cannot see. We as men a lot of times go through our lives projecting this image that we have it all together on the outside through our work and monetary success, but that can often be the farthest thing from the truth.
